I haven't gotten a chance to read as many childrens books as I would like. Today though, I am going to start working on reading books from the different genres we have discussed in class today. I have found that the books that interest me the most are those for younger children. Big surprise, huh?? Not really since that is what age group I want to work with. I think the book lists we have found will be really helpful. Now on to read!

This week I've been trying to get on task with my reading. I read a Gift for Mama which was a great book. I am reading it for a book sell for my TESOL methods class. Since I am reading it for that class I have found that this is a book that has a lot to do with culture. I would like to read more books in this genre!

I am starting to read the Al Capone book for my childrens lit circle and am finding it really interesting. I also have been doing a lot of research into science fiction books and fairytale type books for my booklist and my class genre. I am going to the library this week to pick up some more books in these genres. Until next week!

This week I have been looking at books in the science fiction genre. I found quite a few and went to the library today after we were finished in class. I started reading some other books in the Shadow Children series. I also borrowed books by Uma Krishnaswami and think I will use her or the lady who wrote the shadow children series for my author focus.

Last week I read the book Among the Hidden and Among the Betrayed and found that I couldnt put those books down. I think I will read other books from that series because they were very interesting.

This week I have been reading fairytale and folktale books. One I found that I really liked was "The Gingerbread Cowboy" it was a very cute story that was based in the southwest.

This week I have been reading many books and updating my list of books. Finding out which genre they really are has been the hardest because they seem to overlap sometimes. I have discovered though that picture books are still my favorite.

This week I got books from the library that we mainly poety/verse genre. I think this was really interesting because it seemed like the content of these books are so wide range. I read one called gallop - o - gallop that was about horses. This book was really cool and would be one that would target a child who was interested in horses.

Jan Brett books were what was really interesting me this week. I borrowed several of her books from the library. One of the ones I borrowed was about reeindeer and it was a really great book for the upcoming season. My daugher really found this book and its illustrations interesting.

This week I have just been finishing up my book list. I went in search of a few more fantasy books and nonfiction. I read a book about the Dust Bowl. It was a great book. Also I added one called The Widow's Broom that was great as well. I was introduced to Chris Van Allsburg in Special Needs class and so I looked for some of his books The Widows Broom was one of his and I love his writing and his illustrations.

My book list is completed with sixty three books on it. I wish I could have added a few more but ran out of time. This is going to be a great resource for me later. I am glad I did it.
